Participant in international expeditions exploring ancient voyages

 

Theodor Troev has organised sailing expeditions in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean with crews of the Travellers Club and the Scientific Expeditions Club NEK-UNESCO, he has led the Argonautica Expedition, exploring the myth of Jason and the Argonauts in their voyage to Colchis in search of the Golden Fleece, and has participated in several international expeditions retracing ancient voyages:

  • The Ulysses Voyage from Troy to Ithaca with a replica of a Bronze Age galley, led by the famous British explorer, historian and geographer, Tim Severin
  • The Kyrenia Voyage from Piraeus to Cyprus with a replica of an ancient Greek merchant ship, a project of the Hellenic Institute for Nautical Traditions
  • The Trireme sea trials in the Aegean with a replica of an ancient Greek war ship, a project of the Trireme Trust – UK
  • Crusader, on horseback across Europe to trace the First Crusade, an expedition led by the British explorer Tim Severin
  • The Pount Expedition around Africa with a replica of an ancient Egyptian ship, a project of the French Association for the Study of Egyptian Navigation
  • The Papyrella Voyage with a papyrus boat in the Aegean, a project of the Hellenic Institute for Nautical Traditions
